Hi all! I have this 5.5 gallon tank and it’s in the process of cycling. I am wondering if I should look to add a betta or neocardinia shrimp to this aquarium? I have a small 2.5 gallon red cherry shrimp tank and a 5.5 gallon betta tank already in my bedroom. This tank is in my living/dining room area. Open to opinions/suggestions or if I should do something different?

Edit: I also have a betta floating log I’ll add in later regardless if it’s a betta or shrimp that is added. I’m also looking to add a Nerite snail or two. Maybe an assassin snail instead of the Nerite snails though to combat the bladder snails that hitched a ride in on one of the plants

I mean another Betta maybe try some breeding? But a 5 is pretty limited. Basically some other gouramis maybe rasboras and not many. A pea puffer? Least killis or rocket killi?

I’d probably do a Betta I’m upgrading my 3 gallon Betta cubes to 6 gallons and the 3s will be shrimp.

  2. Why not try both some Betas will tolerate cherry shrimp and if they breed you have s supply of fresh food for the betts as well
