In the 2D shot I clearly see school and some bigger fish. But have a hard time knowing what I see in the DI and SI images (not from exact same occasion). Is it guaranteed fish in some of them? Thanks a lot.

For the down-imaging my Lowrance has a setting/mode that kind of merges the 2D and the DI, called FishReveal. It will draw the arches on the DI as well and this helps a lot in identifying actual fish for me. From what Google tells me Humminbird does not have an equivalent to this setting unfortunately, so perhaps your best bet is to run them side by side with a split screen view. DI more for structure then and 2D for fish.

For your side image screenshot, best tips I can give you is to keep the boat straight and at a steady pace (3,5 – 5 km/h works best for me). On your screenshot you see that you were slightly turning for the middle section of your image, which kind of stretches everything out and makes it much harder to read. Only at the bottom and towards the top of the image are you going more steady.
Then, to identify fish, what you are looking for are ‘hard’ responses. Depending your color palette this can be shown differently, but in general it’s things that are showing up brightly. Match that with good speed and steady steering and for bigger fish this can reveal actual shapes that are undeniable. However it can be tricky when they are hugging the bottom, because it becomes hard to differentiate between an object or an actual fish. The easiest way is to be sure of fish is looking for things that are casting a shadow on your SI further along. Best example I could quickly find online for you, would be this:

Notice the bright spots and then the shadow separated by some feet/meters? These are guaranteed fish suspended further above the bottom. The only thing the screenshot does not show well, is that if you dial in your sensitivity correctly, you should see these same objects/fish reflected in the black middle column of the screen as well (as this is actually a sort of 2D/DI view of the water column).

Going back to your own SI screenshot, it’s hard to make out because the middle part is distorted by turning the boat it seems. At the bottom and the top I see 2 distinct things making a shadow, but based on how close the shadow is to the object (basically meaning this is on the bottom) we cannot be certain that it’s fish. Furthermore, based on the shapes of the shadows I would think it’s probably not fish, but this is depending a bit on whether you were going fully straight and maintaining a steady speed.
