My husband put it in hot water in the tub tonight. How long round about? Is a pretty big 30 inch long piece. He put a weight on it.

It was kewl to see all the air bubbles immediately coming out of it.

Thanks again.

I had to soak a large piece for a few months in a trash can before it finally lost its buoyancy.

You’re gonna need to just weigh it down in the tank if you want to have it in there any time soon.

I’d be too worried about chemicals in my tub to use that but I see it would be hard to fit in something else

  4. I have a piece of drift wood in my tank that still floats after a full year of being submerged.

Just boil it for an hour and use weights to keep it grounded in the tank.

Sinking woods take quite a while. That’s why I’ve been using glue and rocks to weigh it down quickly and it’s been successful so far. I don’t think I can go back waiting significant amount of time for my woods to sink.

Mine start sinking after like a month or so, but it was about half of that size

Mine was quite a bit bigger, soaked it for 3 weeks in the bath tub changing the water out for hot water every night and then I finally got tired of waiting and put rocks on it in the tank to weigh it down. After a few months i took the rocks off and it finally didn’t float

Long enough youre going to want to put that thing somewhere else to soak unless you never, ever use that tub. Ive had pieces soak for months and months before sinking.

  9. Not manzanita but I just got my spiderwood to sink after about 3 weeks soaking

I drilled loads of holes in a big piece of wood to help it get waterlogged faster, it still took around 8 weeks but was at least able to be wedged into the tank with older waterlogged wood.
