I just caught some stocked trout. I’ve been trout fishing all my life and I have never seen a pattern like this before. Maybe I haven’t caught enough fish or maybe there’s something going on. It’s really cool! But I am also curious as for the reason. Is this a stocked trout trait? Evolutionary? Hybrid? Etc etc

Edit: I’m also noticing now that some of other trout have similar stripe patterns. But not as dramatic as the one pointed out. I’m gonna see about calling the hatchery to see if they might know.

It has to do with what parts are touching other trout. The darker areas are exposed to air for longer. Did you have them in a cooler?
