Oh my god i never expected this old piece of junk to be this horrible. Either i got lucky with it being new and working years back when i bought this (a decade ago), but right now it’s pissing me off so bad!!
Context: i set up my 4 gal biorb after a few years of being retired because i took down my 15 gallon which i couldn’t take care of properly due to some health issues, BUT NOW I’M REGRETTING IT.
Lately my boy Sushi has become pretty sluggish and not eating. I was very confused but i realized my ammonia spiked! Did water changes: nothing. Ok…it must be the filter. TELL ME WHY IT TOOK ME 1 HOUR TO PRY OPEN THE FILTER CARTRIGE AT THE BOTTOM. GUNK FLEW EVERYWHERE AS IT WAS VERY OBVIOUSLY CLOGGED.
I feel so bad for my boy… I have another aquarium, a regular glass one with a sponge filter, a bit under 5 gallons and my other boy Iris is doing amazing. I swear to god, the issue is not only with the awkward shape to clean and bad size, BUT THE WHOLE FILTRATION,LIGHTING AND HEATING SYSTEM which is basically JUNK and cannot be fixed,only replaced by their insanely overpriced products.
As soon as i move (in just a couple months,this summer) my boy is going to get the 15 gallon all to himself, or atleast a bigger, regular, square tank! Sadly i cannot set up another fish tank right now due to housing conditions.I honestly feel so stupid for even setting it up again.
Long story short: fish police is almost always right. DON’T PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM BIORB unless you wanna rip your hair out.
For now i will be doing more frequent water changes and keeping a very close eye on Sushi to make sure he’s atleast comfortable for the next couple months.
