New at lure fishing as a matter of fact yesterday was the first time using a bait caster pole. Thats a different story. Prior i’ve used a reel pole to use jerk bait but my boy said the pole I was using was too heavy. I’ve skunked the last 3 times using lures and using bait. So i bait a pole up throw it out there and i use the bait caster hoping I get a bite on either one. I’m going for striped bass but if something or ANYTHING bites on the lure i’d be happy. Am I using the wrong lure for the river that I’m going to? I throw it out there and I try reeling in a steady pace not to fast not to slow. I’ll give it a lil jerk here and there. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!
