I'm planning on building a riparium later this year, specifically one with Thai micro crabs. I've done research on a few of the species already but I really want one last fish to add a pop of colour.

Not that the Pearl danios and Rasboras aren't gorgeous of course, but I think some black or yellow would really add something. Unfortunately, both the Blue-eye and Killifish don't exactly meet the requirements.

Since it will be a riparium, it will be a relatively shallow tank with an open top (so no jumping is a must), and since I really want the Thai micro crabs in there, they must be very peaceful. I've also seen a few other cool species that would fit, but they're either very specialised (like a pipefish) or require a hillstream tank (Panda loach would have been a cool one). Since it's a low tech riparium, there won't be much water flow.

I'm a sucker for oddballs (as you could probably see by the species that didn't make it), and I'm not 100% certain on the Pygmy cory yet, an Asian species might be more fitting with the rest. If anyone has any suggestions for fish that would meet the requirements, I'd really appreciate it!

I don’t own them, but maybe look at tiger teddies? I’ve heard they’re good with shrimplets and they share water parameters.

The least raspbora were recommended to me and they are one of my new favorites to watch. Sparkling gourami as well.

Scarlett badis usually only eat live. So plan on a daphnia culture

Peacock gudgeons maybe? They won’t attack crabs and have the yellow you are looking for. I have one in a ten gallon and while I’ve heard they can jump, I have never seen her try or even hang out near the surface in four months and didn’t have a lid for at least two months before I got amanos which I know will jump/escape
