I think I know the answer, but is my girl overweight? I've had her since January but she recently decided to go after and eats all of the shrimp she had been peacefully cohabitating with. If she is overweight, what sort of change in diet would be appropriate?

She eats Tetra Betta pellets – about 10, twice a day. She does not eat dried blood worms when I have offered them.

The tank is planted and cycled (I test the water twice a week and do a partial water change weekly). It's a 5 gal tank. The only other creatures now are a few snails.

She is extremely overweight and 10 pellets a day is wayyyy too much. Im pretty sure most people recommend 2 in the morning and 2 at night or something I’m not sure. I wouldnt feed her for a day or two she’s very bloated

hi OP definitely overweight! i would suggest feeding 4 pellets a day as well as recommending a fasting day! as far as the dried bloodworms my betta HATED them but loves the frozen ones! i would try that out and see if she drops in weight a little bit! over feeding can cause lots of issues in the long run unfortunately!

I’m gonna be real I’ve never seen a fat fish. So this is more cool to me than anything.

It looks like a mix of overweight + egg belly. Just fast her for a couple of days and she’ll be alright!
