He isn’t as active anymore. He’s mostly chilling at the bottom now.

I don’t know much, but I know my platinum male leaves his log to eat and that’s pretty much it. Maybe they’re just a lazy bunch? I feel like as long as the levels are good, he’s probably good too 🙂

What’s your water parameters look like and how long have you had him?

  3. You have a bunch of betta-tearing plastic plants at the top of his tank for pink aesthetic, why do you think he avoids it? Like think of it this way- if you had long flowy fins and soft skin, would you keep swimming around a plastic pointy horrorland

  4. Nitrites and Ammonia should be at 0ppm, and the plastic plants are not healthy. Look into getting some real plants from a local fish store to help cycle the tank. It sounds like your ammonia cycle isn’t established. You can also buy bottles of treatment to do a fish in cycle. In the meantime do partial water changes to keep your water fresh.

he seems full of ennui. add new enrichment! floating plants at the surface because they love the roots. also get some good live plants. they are much softer than plastic and give them a place to rest near the top. add a snail of some kind to give him something to look at. if you have not already added beneficial bacteria, you should add some. it’ll be at the petstore in a bottle called safestart or something like that. make sure you have a filter and heater.

the plastic plants do only harm, really. snag their fins and don’t contribute to reducing the ammonia levels. live plants are much better, planted and floating.

also, maybe add a log or betta hammock. make sure he is eating good food. fluval bug bites (the small pellets not the flakes) are amazing. then lastly i’d add some catappa/indian almond leaves as they have antibacterial properties and the tannins they release are very good for fish.

Why is there ammonia and nitrites? Is it like that out of your tap? How old is your tank?

If you go to a place like buce plant online u can order something like the Anubias barteri mother plant. It’ll be big and tall. It’ll take up most of the height of not all of the height of your tank. This way he can rest comfortably up top. It’s a good plant to use even if it’s just temporarily while u get ur plant skills dialed in.

If ur having ammonia and nitrites out of ur tap u will have to find a way to dilute that. Fast growing stem plants and floating plants can be especially helpful. Slow growing plants like Anubias don’t eat as fast. So look for something like Rotala Rotundafolia since u like color. But u will still need a way to dilute the water bc u need a decent amount of plants actively growing in order to keep up with the ammonia as it is now.
