this is Enzo, he was labeled as a “black variant” halfmoon. when i first brought him home, he was SOLID black. now he has developed this gorgeous blue on his tail and some spots!
my guess is black orchid but he has spotting like some alien variants i have seen. i know very little about identification so please help 😂 (any tips are also welcome, i am a newer betta mom!)

My black orchid male looks very similar- he just has brighter blues 🙂 his name is Morpheus 🖤

They are high stressed if kept in cup, will change color once you get them into a good environment. Is he in a 5 gallon nitorgen cycled tank now?
I would still bet a black orchid. There are variations called vampire and Avatar out there that are black with spots of red and blue like my guy here in this crappy photo of him but where yours is still mostly black, I would say a black orchid is most likely. Hes pretty though!
