I've bought Piranha (my Betta) about 3 months ago. He was bought from an aquarium alongside 5 Cory's he lived with. I can only guess people tapped the glass and spooked him because he seems to dislike my hand outside the glass.

If I put my finger on the glass he'll swim away, but when I walk over and don't show my hands to him, he swims up to me always, and sometimes follows me around when I'm working around the aquarium.

I can't seem to even train him to associate the finger with food. He won't eat if he sees my finger OUTSIDE the aquarium. But he's completely fine with my whole hand inside his tank.

You could try to hold your finger a few inches away from the glass during feeding time to try and encourage him to make an association between it and getting fed, then gradually bring it closer. Of course make sure he’s still eating his fill while you do, you’ll just have to be careful not to spook him while he’s eating otherwise he might miss some of it.

Also he’s gorgeous by the way!

Maybe he sees the finger as a predator? Cuz one of my betta hates being pointed at. If hes pointed at, he will shrink away but pop back up when my finger is gone
