I’ll always be a diehard trout angler, but I truly enjoy getting out and experiencing other freshwater species on the fly on waters closer to home. Pulled 6 species out of the same small stretch of river using the same fly on this particular day. I frequently fish the tiny headwaters of this same river for native brook trout, and it was incredibly interesting seeing the entirely different ecosystem downstream.

I got my son started fly fishing with shiners, they are in most Creeks he gets to catch a fish and practice and they will eat almost anything
