Went to visit family and threw the 4wt in the car because why not? Was hoping to find some brown trout from shore given the info I’d read on the water. Had about 12 perch and no luck on a single trout in 5+ hrs. Sadly I had forgotten the streamer box at home but had one (very poorly) home tied black bugger leftover in the bottom of my gear bag. Hooked it up to an orvis polyleader… Two casts in on a deep drop off I connected with my first lake trout. Landed it in 2 minutes with my brothers help. No ruler but laid flat was slightly longer than the mid length nomad fishpond net (37 in). Released back to the depths quickly after this photo. Not saying it’s impossible but I highly doubt I’ll see another laker of this size in my life on the fly. Best part was I got to share the moment with my brother who is new to fly fishing
