4 nice sized rainbows fed the whole family last night!
Something funny as well, the crappie you can see on the stringer, survived the 2 hour ride back in the bucket with 4 trout, then another 3 hours in the garage covered in ice. As we went to clean the fish, we pulled out the crappie thinking it was dead, but as soon as we started to wash him, he started flopping around! My ma wouldn’t let him die and for 30 minutes while cleaning the fish kept him alive in the sink, changing the water every few minutes. Now since we haven’t a pond near us with crappie, I need to return him to the lake I got him at. Funny thing is, it’s far as hell! And we don’t have anywhere to put him. But my ma wouldn’t let not give up on him. Now we have an above ground pool we haven’t opened up yet, and if you didn’t know, over winter in northern states you put a tarp over it to keep it clean(ish) and keep the leaves out. Now we haven’t opened it up yet, so my ma says,”throw him in The pool, we’ll get him out soon and you’ll have an excuse to go back fishing!” So now we have a crappie living in our unopened pool tarp, eating mosquitoes, flies, and mosquito larvae.
Could not have asked for a better pet, we love you Crud the Crappie!
