no , clean it with discarded fish tank water , it looks great if anything , the algae made it look better

Looks like it’s been doing its job! I’d let it march on until you see the sponge deteriorate. Looks good to me. A quick cleaning and it will be like new

That’s a Veteran Sponge. Still has the fight in it.
you can clean the sponge if you hate the look, but this doesnt really hinder its function much so i wouldn’t bother unless the sponge is literally falling apart.
Its just camouflage. Put it in a corner you dont see and forget about it
