I’ve been looking at online breeders and came across this. I’ve never heard of emerald eye. Does anyone know if it runs a risk of blindness or other health issues?

Other than the risk of Diamond Eye, the green eye trait doesn’t affect their vision in their day-to-day lives, as far as we know.

Copied from google – Betta Splendens Plakats (Hybrid): Specialized bred, short-finned Plakat splendens are often sold with striking, vibrant emerald-green eyes, often described as “Emerald-Eye Green Plakats” or “Phantom” variants.
Looks like it does exist but i’d guess a shorter lifespan such the same as the story of glowfish, just bred for profit and forced under animal cruelty, wouldn’t recommend
Honestly didn’t know these existed until your post, thank you for sharing! 😁
With online breeders do be careful, some have very harsh conditions on how they are bred…better off in person as you can get an idea on physical health issues up close and safer for them during travel. Most fish stores (unsure on ur location of course) will special order particular breeds for you, might be worth an ask.

Looks half glofish betta. Which aren’t supposed to be bred, I am pretty sure. Because of a patent.
