Besides having the kayak backwards, what else did I do wrong? Bought some decent cam buckle. Added the black one in the front just in case. The kayak kept moving on the front mount. Is this purely because I had the kayak backwards? I'm honestly thinking maybe I should just buy some foam blocks and transport the kayak flat. It was about a 45 minute drive and had to stop multiple times to reposition.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I stick to the, “if it can be transported flat on its top (upside down) then that is the way to go”…. I bought some J-Hooks and about the only thing they’re good for is transporting long lumber….. I find them to be sketchy as hell for a kayak. I also own a Thule and Yakima “saddles” and they’re even better than flat.
