I’m looking for some new, easy centerpiece fish ideas for my 20 long. My betta who lived in this has been moved to a different tank for being a bully to the Pygmy corys (x6) so I’m hoping to get some new ideas for centerpiece fishes. I tend to steer towards bettas as they’re my favorite but it’s about time I look into something new. I’ve seen many say honey gouramis are popular but they seem to require a lid due to jumping and breathing concerns (?), and I frankly don’t plan on adding a lid to this tank due to things sticking out and pothos clippings. I believe rams are also popular, but I’m hoping to get a few more options.

Loaches! Loach heaven! It looks great for them, too; sand and river rock! 🙂

I’ve been a big fan of diamond tetras in the past.

Although no fish is a true “beginner” fish since issues can arise with any species, I’ve had a very nice time keeping diamond tetras and they’re wayyy healthier than their neon counterparts.
