And what type of gear do you use? I’m assuming spinning gear is fine.

  1. I’ve heard of people drop shotting or putting them on a whacky hook. Have to imagine you’ll need a light/ultralight to cast weightless but you can get a weighted whacky hook to get a little distance with heavier gear

Are these new? I”m seeing them everywhere right now.

Everytime I see one, I think of covid for some reason

  3. Big treble hook and nail weight. You want it to sink slowly. Fish it like a jerk bait. In my experience, they eat it at the boat.

Never used these, but creating a mold on my 3D printer to try to make my own. Will be giving them a try this weekend if all things work out.

1/8oz tungsten nail weight through the existing hole, and a 2/0 wacky hook. If you want to fish it on the bottom, look up a “Jika rig”

  6. 1/16, 3/32, or 1/8 ounce nail weight through the existing hole in the middle. This will allow the bait to sink. 1/0 Gamakatsu Short Shank Treble Hook. Hook one of the trebles through the bait near the nail weight and then out the side, nice and tight. Then fish it like a Wacky Rig or a jerkbait. This is how Chris Johnston and Brandon Palaniuk just dominated the Bassmaster Elite Series event at the Santee Cooper lakes. Chris was skipping and pitching under docks and Brandon was pitching Cyprus Trees.
