Hi guys! Thank you so much for being so interested in my series of watercolour paintings I've been doing. I still have a good 20-30 to get through from the original post, and those will be finished soon.
However, I'm not sure I will be doing this again, even though I said I would.
I really do love the support, and it's not the volume or the sheer amount of people replying, I knew from the start I couldn't paint \*every\* fish. Unfortunately it's more how people are treating me as an artist. Each of these paintings take me around 20 minutes to do, all of them. (The tiny fish took 5 minutes each!). Unfortunately because these aren't commissioned pieces and just for practice, they aren't all perfect. I thought I could just make some people happy with free doodles of their critters.
I've gotten nasty replies to my posts, as well as DMS threatening me for not choosing their fish. I've been criticized for how I add my signature to my drawings, how long I take, etc etc. This has all been very discouraging, and it honestly sucks because 95% of people are very lovely, but the 5% ruin the fun of it for me.
I'm sorry for not being able to meet everyone's expectations, I'll still finish the paintings I promised, but I'm not sure I'm gonna do another free wave like this.

So sorry to see you getting treated this way. What you’re doing is such a cool and generous thing. It’s a shame some people ruined it with their behavior.
This is so sad 🙁 Your drawing you made of Snowball and Amber made my day. My bf loves my fish and we both smiled when we saw it. I’m really sorry OP, unfortunately a lot of people on the Internet aren’t kind and that spreads to pretty much every platform and art form. I used to post my drawings but show them to friends instead for this same reason. I understand feeling discouraged, I’m sorry a few lame people ruined this for you. 🫂
I’d like to put my drawing up on my fish wall next to my main tank where I have all sorts of stickers, I’m going to be hitting you up for my drawing to be shipped soon I think. Even if not everyone does, I’ve been enjoying seeing your art and update posts and I hope you continue to draw, improve, and have fun regardless of whether of not you post your art. It’s a very nice thing you did, regrettably not everyone understands compassion and is grateful. 💜
what!?! people paint other peoples pets for free and then give critisism?!? After seeing your original post and some of the people who’s pets got painted I was like, I am sad I am late! How often do people get the chance to get their pets painted for free?? and A signature is like pretty normal right?
People are crazy especially when they are hiding anonymously behind their keyboard. I’m sorry they suck. Please keep doing you!
The most sad thing is that the hate would have probably been a lot less if it was a giveaway style post instead of painting everyone’s pet post.
Wow, I’m really sorry you’ve been treated this way and want to thank you for making this post highlighting this awful treatment – that was brave and important to put a spotlight on this experience.
I do not understand humans. I am sorry you experienced this but rest assured it’s the problem of the individuals who chose to behave like this, not you.
Oh dear! Do not apologize! Your drawings look gorgeous, and you’re very kind to offer to draw people’s pets for free. I’m so sorry about those nasty people who ruined the fun for everyone.

That’s terrible! Shame on those people… that’s no way to react to free art! I’m sorry you experienced this. You have every right to put your signature on what you made. Your paintings are very cute.

I am so sorry people have been so awful. Jeez can’t people just let a good thing be good without ruining it? You don’t deserve all their negativity.
Art isn’t perfect, neither are people on the internet unfortunately. If you ever do commissioned pieces I would love to get one of my betta, I would personally be willing to pay ~$50 especially if mailing the original was an option.
Don’t let others get your down, your art is really beautiful and personal.

I’m sorry people aren’t being kind to you. You are very talented and anyone should realize that you cannot possibly get to every single one. You are not a machine. I think your work is lovely.
Another reason to lose faith in humanity… good lord who can hate a benevolent artist? I’m sorry you had arseholes messaging you, but do know there are lots more who appreciate your talents!

Wow your art speaks to me… and there’s no way I’d ever expect anything free from a wonderful talented artist like you. These are amazing and id pay lots to have one on my wall.
I won’t be sharing the DMS as some of them get very nasty and personal, but comments like this really get me down.
