The line that comes on these is usually pretty bad. Lots of memory. Would be worth putting new line on.

Put on new line and set up the line spool so it spins when you put it on the reel. Don’t set the line spool flat on the floor and let it just unravel off the spool as you put it onto the reel.
Real easy way is if you have someone to help you, stick a pencil or pen through the hole in the line spool and have them stand in front of you while you put the line on holding the pencil from each end.
There should also be some level of tension on the line when you spool a reel. The person holding it can apply slight pressure to the line spool so it doesn’t spin so freely or you can pinch the line below the first rod eyelet as it goes in. Wear gloves or hold a rag or paper towel when doing this as line moving through bare finger can burn or cut your skin.

These two answers are the perfect answers. The only thing I can add is once upon a time Walmart sold a line box that you could put the thin spools in and feed the line through a grommet to assist in the filling of the reel. It was very useful. I will try to find a url because this is so useful to anglers.
