Hi all, long story short i recently added some ghost shrimp to a 10 gallon planted tank with my betta as of a month ago. I started with 6 and one was a pregnant shrimp, and all 6 survived. I’ve been looking for the baby shrimp but they hide well. I noticed a smaller shrimp hanging out a lot more and it even tried to hitch a ride on my betta. He is a long finned betta so he likes to lay around on the leaves /rocks/wood and I guess it kept trying to bother him because the next day i noticed the same shrimp- dead. He hadn’t bothered any of the other ones yet which is what i’ve been carefully monitoring for and has been docile with other tank mates in the past. Question is, should i leave the shrimp body in the tank or let him snack on it? He seemed to keep going in for a bite. Why was the shrimp bothering him so much?

No advice to give, just here to say that your Betta is glorious!!!
My guy rank is chill with the cherry shrimp, but occasionally becomes a serial killa and eats the baby’s. Betta lyfe
I’d personally say remove the shrimp to be extra cautious just in case it died of any kind of disease. But of course you can leave it in there if you wish it shouldn’t spike the Ammonia
Murder is a betta’s favorite pastime. If it doesn’t eat the dead shrimp, the other shrimp will
I havent directly seen my betta kill any of my ghost shrimp, but i have seen her eating the dead bodies. Typically the ghost shrimp leave her alone.
Im willing to bet yours has eaten most if not all of the babies tho.
I had a beta take out about 20 cherry shrimp overnight. I had another who couldn’t care less about being kept with shrimp and lived in peace with them his whole life
