Oh come on bro.. this is a total sell out take. You know damn well a canister is the king of filtering. Hard to clean? They aren't at all.. takes up lots room? What, the space underneath your tank? I currently run all 3 types too
External are the best for everyone with no need to worry once set ,hang on are not as efficient can be noisy also you have to mod them to get the most ,sponge filters were used in vats to breed and not meant long term as they are cheap and start to lose flow as soon as they get gunged up ,best to balance with deep beds and plants with a canister but remember if you dont have many fish you probably dont need a filter unless you over feed

Me personally i don't use a filter because I have a lot of plants
So ugly in the tank tho….you'd have to be quite creative to hide them…..

Go undergravel! Use the right substrate and plants, setup a tank and simply forget, cheap, low maintenance, invisible, great for plants!
AIO aquariums with media baskets, great for both salt and fresh.
I don't have any Problem with the sponge filter, it makes water clearer and clean. 😊
My filter is an aquaponic bed, because why not 😂
