Started fly fishing a few months ago, and have been fishing on a local, but remote still water alot…just a truly untouched and serene enviroment i like visiting. Caught alot of 6-8" brookies, and have really fallen in love with this sport.

Iv been getting out every week relentlessly, and each time I kept seeing a respectively large fish jumping waaay back in the still water that I could not reach due to high water and struggling to cast far enough.

Well, this week the water droped a bit and I was able to wade out, in combination with getting my casting much better and really dialing in my double haul. I was able to throw out maybe 60+ft of line to reach this area. Saw lots of action going on, but zero bites on the flies iv been using since April (grifiths nat, mayflies etc).

So decided to throw on a chubby chernoble, which iv played with before but with no luck. This time, bang! He hit it, its the biggest fish iv ever caught here. But i also suspect he may be one of the bigger fish ill ever find on this river.

Not a huge fish by any means, but man.. this one hit different. It really felt like all my practice, struggles and learning really came together! Learning to slow down, pay attention and trust my instincts. It really made me feel very proud to put it all together.

I released him, hoping ill get the chance to catch him again in years to come.

This weekend im taking my daughter out fly fishing with me for the first time. I feel like I can actually impart some knowledge to her now with confidence. I truly love this sport!

Its like a new puzzle to solve every time I go out.

Nothing crazy, but a meaningful moment for me i wanted to share. Please share your stories, id love to hear about your magical days coming together for you aswell.
