I have this tank cycled for 5 months now. But my fish keep dying.
These are the fish I have, all brought from a reputable shop near me:
Ember tetras – 22
Cardinal tetras – 14
Amano shrimp – 11
Nerite snails – 6
Here are the fish that have passed, and how:
6 corydoras – due to insufficient food, as they were competed with. Gave the other cories away.
4 amanos – died after introduction
1 cardinal- died after introduction
1 thick lipped gourami- still alive, but will euthanize soon. Symptoms: lethargy, washed out colour, sitting tilted, weird shaped body. He is in hospital container.
Now here are my parameters, tank schedule, food, etc.
Food: Bug bites in morning, and Hikari micro bites in afternoon. Also give frozen food once a week. Feed shrimps and snails with Hikari shrimp cuisine.
Temp: 28 – 26⁰C
Parameters:
Ph~7
Ammonia and nitrite 0
Nitrate ~ 20ppm
Dissolved oxygen ~ 8ppm
KH is 200ppm
Algea found in tank: green hair algea, BBA, brown algea, mulm.
This is all I could think of, feel free to ask more questions.

Find answers at Dr. Tim’s Aquatics. A full line of product and know how.
What’s the tank size?
Do you use a declorinator with all your tap water that goes in the tank and which brand ?
Do you use the API master test kit or test strips ?
How often do you do water changes and how many percent ?
What are you using for surface agitation ?
Stop going to that store and buy from a different source.
Those products saved me a ton of trouble.
What products are you suggesting?
How long did you have them and did you see any signs of parasites?
Tank dimensions & glass mm ?
How do you do the introduction process?
Go get your water professionally tested. Both from the tap and from the tank. There could be something in it, like heavy metals or copper, that’s causing your fish and inverts to die. Shrimp especially are very sensitive to metal poisoning.
