Never fished before, but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I grabbed this Ugly Stik 50th spinning combo and some Trilene XL a few days ago, watched a few YouTube vids and I think I did okay.
Only concern is it looks a little thin toward the front of the spool. I think I kept good tension on the line.
I’d appreciate any critiques.

A little too much. Stay about 1/4 inch inside the spool
Meh. A little much, but once you have it on a rod with some tackle, will be closer. I’d try it. If it starts falling off the spool, well, had to take it off anyway.
Just take a tiny bit off so it’s 1/8 inch under the top
It’s fine. I hope you spooled it so you don’t get bad line twist, though
