Took a trip to South Carolina a couple weeks ago and my buddy caught his first large mouth out of my jon boat! Just under two pounds. Caught with a dock runner ugly stick off a dark green soft plastic Texas rig.

dock runner is great for this, my cousin use one for everything from bass to catfish
did you get him on the boat easy or he fight much
