A while back I bought Amano shrimp for my freshwater tank. As far as I know, Amano larvae actually need brackish water to develop — so keeping them purely in freshwater shouldn’t allow successful reproduction.
But now I’m clearly seeing baby shrimp in my tank, about 1–1.5 cm, no longer larvae, that look just like my adult Amanos: transparent, with the pattern/dots on their backs.
I’d love to hear from anyone with experience or insight.

I have heard of someone else who got amanos to reproduce in freshwater. Maybe a lucky mutation?

What are your water parameters? Are you somewhere like central Texas where the tap water is super hard and alkaline?

No experience, but it would be interesting to see if this is sustainable. As others said, this could be a mutation, if it is you could have a valuable bloodline of Amanos.
Amano eggs can hatch in freshwater, it is the larvae that requires brackish water otherwise they will die out in a couple days

Amanos require a real specific salinity and then a slow reintrouction to freshwater (or brackish) to hatch.
I would like to suggest you might’ve gotten baby amanos from the store where they grew to the size of the pictures. Those in the pictures are nowhere near where newborn amanos would be in size and were probably just imperceptibly tiny when you got them.
