Spotted about a dozen of these guys (koi/goldfish?) cruising the pond behind my hotel. They were very skittish and wanted nothing to do with worms.
I’m going to try again tomorrow with corn or bread either suspended from a bobber or sitting off the bottom.
Will these fish eat the same bait as a common carp or do I need to fish them differently?

If there are a dozen of them then perhaps the owner of the property that pond is on wants them there. People don’t often dump 12 Koi…

LOL, dudes fishing in somebody’s fountain.
It’s a koi carp, in warmer months they bask along the top so float set up or even a piece of bread on the hair chucked out. However carp usually filter on the bottom so it can range between a pop up on an inline method feeder or go for a free line method packed full of ground bait and a sticky pellet on the hair.
Is this the pond inside Hong Fung Chinese cuisine in Cibolo, TX? If it is they love to eat quarters
We had one of these in a shitty city pond. Same as the normal carp, balled up wonder bread on a hair rig. Drew a bunch of onlookers when I caught it, I think it’s just in our nature to want to catch something obnoxious and orange
