I’ve been looking at getting a kayak for fishing San Diego Bay. My budget is pretty low, want to keep it below $1,500.
Anyone here have any experience with one of these Lost Creek kayaks from Sportsman’s? My other option would be to keep an eye out for a used deal on FaceBook marketplace.
Also how do you guys transport your kayaks? I’m looking at a saddle rack for my Subaru as it seems like the best option for transporting just one kayak.

I do not know about SD bay, but I have this kayak and really like it. I got it a couple years ago for $1k, which is why I got it. The rudder isn’t great. I pedal and use my paddle to steer, generally.
That is a really short kayak for a bay environment. Especially one known to have strong wind and currents.
It will be a rough ride and have trouble tracking straight. If you were to get this, I wouldn’t go out on any day where the wind is projected to be anything more than 1-2mph. You’d also really need to pay attention to the tide tables.
If it is in your budget, I’d look for something in the 12-13ft range.
Also keep in mind the weight capacity ratings and don’t exceed it. That means you plus all your gear.
Where your PPE and have an emergency communication device (VHF and/or EPIRB). So you don’t end up featured in Escape From Alcatraz 2.
