Fished 2 days on a small salmon river in Iceland. Tough fishing with the river on its bones seeing no measurable rain in the area in over a week.

Found these fish waiting on a rise to ascend a set of falls. They would have ran up last small spate – which was a bit over a week ago – then got ‘stuck’. The upper river meadows are currently devoid of salmon. River needs a good bump to get fish moving again.

Still, 3 fish in two days is pretty OK.

Not totally familiar with the nomenclature of Atlantic Salmon fishing, live in WA state, but would these be considered Grilse?
