I have a couple 7’ medium actions rods and good all purpose rod. I like a fast action tip and use for wacky rig, neko, blade bait, crank baits, etc.
I’d say if ugly stik is the brand you’re going with, gx2 is probably the one you’d want
I generally use 2500 to 3000 reels so can’t speak to 3500. Most of my reels I spool with braid between 15 to 35 lbs, and tie a fluro leader from 10 to 14 lbs. never had an issue with the 14lb leader. To me a good drag on the spinning reel is really important and always checking and changing my drag throughout the day to make sure it is set appropriately.
For $140 you could get much better quality than ugly stick.
Dobyns fury series would be very fitting
