After a several days long fight with an ammonia spike, skittles showed signs of improvement in his hospital tank. I had finally gotten his ammonia levels back to normal, but unfortunately he had crashed. He succumbed to his illness and passed away.
He was such a curious boy, and always full of life. He was sassy towards me but gentle to his tank mates, and loved building bubble nests. I will miss him dearly, and although he was “just a fish”, he was my fish. I’m honestly not sure that I’ll be able to get another betta, as he just meant so much to me. It just goes to show that you can do all the research in the world and do everything you’re supposed to do but sometimes things happen.
Of the 4 photos included, the second one is the day I brought him home. It was so fun watching his personality blossom and his colors change. I’ll miss him. Rest in peace buddy.

SIP Skittles. Thanks for helping him out of a small cup and into a good home. Im sure hes swimming around in the big pond in the sky. He was more than just a fish, he was your buddy :). I know how it feels, its veen a couple of years and i haven’t been able to bring myself to get another betta. They just have such big personalities and short lives 🥺
