I was given a few tackle and they said that it was the way to mount them but the head seems a little to big and the hook to big for the body too. Should I try a smaller head or is this good ?
Plus how do you mount soft lure with a regular hook ? I heard about Texan mount but I can’t get a good grasp on how to do it and if it is really the best way.

Good for bass! I’d only go smaller for pan fish
it’s probably a little big but it will still work.
As for texas rigs, just look up a guide on tiktok. That’s the easiest to learn. You’ll want to get EWG hooks though.
The rig is good but you are correct, that jighead is too large for the plastic body.
I’ve never heard the word “mount” used for putting a lure on a hook. I’m not saying you’re wrong, it may be a regional thing. We use the word ‘rig’. It gave me a giggle. But you do have it rigged correctly. The head is a bit large but sometimes you have to do that either for casting distance or to increase hook size to avoid catching smaller fish. If you like fishing with that, you should try a Ned rig.
About the right size hook, but ide use a lighter weight ball jig so the lure sinks a little slower and flutters more.
Great
Can experiment with retrieve cadence and also fish different parts of the water column. Take note on what works and when.
