I saw some smallmouth in there also a bunch of baby largemouth. How would you fish this?

Cast the bait out. Reel it back in. Keep doing that until you have a fish. Switch baits when you get bored.

If that’s wildfire smoke in the air, I wouldn’t be out fishing!

Strike King Bitsy Pond Minnow Crankbait.
Buy one of those. They are tiny but they move so erratic that fish seem to hate it and they attack it. Ive caught blue gill, bass, carp, catfish, walleye. Just about everything on that little miracle.

try out a rooster tail and if you’re getting too hung go texas or wacky rig (weedless probably)

When in doubt, fish structure. There are other things to look for, but as a beginner just fish the solid structure you can see. Keep it simple. In this case, it’s the trees and logs laying in the water. You can see in these photos some trees that have fallen in the water. Fish will hold to that structure. Cast around there. You can try all kinds of lures. The lure matters less than where you throw it. I would pick a lure that you know how to work. Bass will hit pretty much any lure, but working it correctly will matter more. So if you are using a crankbait, watch a quick video on how to use a crankbait and then go out and fish it.

I’d drift a 3” Senko through it all, and maybe flip a craw around. Might throw a spook, plopper, or frog if they’re active on top.

I would throw an inline spinner and a whopper plopper, but that is because those are my favorite baits. Thow what make you feel good.
