Should I use a smaller loop or just tie a clinch?

Yeah I wouldn’t use a loop knot on anything that small. Clinch will get it done.

    Also, get smaller tippet/leaders.

  2. Too big? Yeah probably — does it matter? No. If you want your loop knots smaller pull the loop down into your thumb and index finger when you pinch it & cinch toward the fly.

Use a clinch. I know that’s 4lb mono, but what manufacturer? That looks absolutely gigantic to me.

You don’t want a loop knot on anything except streamers/wets which are fished with movement. For dries and standard nymphs use a clinch/improved clinch or davy knot (all basically the same, just take your pick). A loop will make dead drift presentations really sloppy
