Hi,

I purchased a Daiwa Regal LT 3000 last month. I spooled it up and took it out on the river. After about 20 casts, I took it home. I returned a few days later to notice a grinding sound coming from the reel. I've never caught a fish on this. It's brand new, so it shouldn't need any servicing. I have no clue what could be causing this, and Daiwa wants me to pay to ship it to them across the country for inspection. Academy won't take returns on used items.

Any help on figuring out this issue would be wonderful. Hope it's an easy fix. Thank you.

Mine does this if I get sand in it. If you’re good with tools and organization, find a video and take it apart yourself. Clean & lube and I bet it’ll be perfect. Probably just got some grit up under the spool. Could also try flushing it with distilled water, might wash the grit out, but that’s probably not a great long term solution.

Honestly if it hasn’t been dropped in the sand or water or anything like that I’d just return it where you bought it and get a replacement.
