Im quite new to fishing and this is my first ever rod so im curiuos and how do i take off this weight (thanks to a commenter i learned its a spunner not a spoon)
I just tie a small snap swivel onto my line with an improved clinch knot, you want it to be appropriately sized for better presentation. It also helps when switching between spinners and spoons fast but i always retie after i catch 3 fish just to be safe. What you have there is a spinner use a swivel to prevent line twist.

You cast the whole lure

Cut it off you don’t need it, that is an inline spinner, you would tie that on to your bare line with a fisherman’s knot

The weight is held in place by the black stopper and should slide right off.

FYI, that’s a spinner.
