Hello guys I’m back here at the river dam hoping to catch my first river fish, could you guys help me figure out where to cast? I’m using a Carolina rig with cutbait.
Me personally id put something live on a hook let it free float with a bobber.
Elsewise id throw some kind of live night crawler on a jig head.

I would go to the other side below the non-spillway section and cast that cut bait in the still water, but close to the current

Get you a yellow 1/4 or 3/8 oz rooster tail. You’ll get something. Anything will bite em. Caught this pike on one this morning. If nothing hitting that, try a 1/2 – 3/4 ounce jig head with a fluke or paddle tail.. nothing in that I’ll go to a jerkbait, crankbait working shallow to deep diving working parallel to shore/ spillway from shallow to deep. you must always have a rod or for catfish, I prefer to use Bream, but live nightcrawler will work for catfish or, Bream which I’ll cut up for bait. Either way. Nightcrawler on the bottom in the slower water. Rooster tail or paddle tail/fluke more to the left running parallel with the spillway/banks starting from the deeper water working to the edge
