I’m not sure where this little dude came from. I went to get two more platies today so that Mango would have some friends. But I also have a black Molly who I’ve read can hold sperm for awhile. So yeah, either I missed little fry in the bag even when I was scooping or it was birthed when I wasn’t paying attention. I’m fairly certain it’s a young black molly, but I’m new to this. Either way, welcome to the crew bonus fry!

Side note: I am aware the fry is unlikely to survive due to its size, but I’ve made some attempts to help it thrive. I have tied a net around the filter so it’s not sucked into it, and that piece you see in the back of the picture, I moved to the far left corner where fry is currently hiding. I also fed the fry individually with finely mashed flakes so small the other fish didn’t notice me adding them to the corner of the tank.

Any other advice welcome 🙂

Godspeed bonus fry.

Sounds like it was produced by the molly. Bit too small in the pic to give a definitive ID but it makes perfect sense. It’s not teeny tiny, so its chances of survival are fine if you don’t have any larger fish! Especially with the filter secured.

If you’re really worried about feeding and survival you could always opt for a breeder box, but I think this one will be fine.
