Per tittle, I want to upgrade my line to the best I can find on an Abu Garcia medium max sx 3000. I’ve used a braided comparison website (forgot the name) and this brand came out as #1.
The reason is any line I’ve purchased and had Cabelas spool has been terrible (I purchased 6 rods at the same time for family and backup). They spooled 2 backwards as they had it set to a casting reels instead of spinning. then they spooled one heavily on one side as I watched instead of spreading it out etc. got it fixed each time but I just don’t trust them any more so I’m doing it my self.
That leads me to the line.
My eyes on the Zukibo Nanofil line but I’m not sure what LB to match it to my reel based on diameter Or if it’s too much.
Ive included the pictures of the line and rod for detailed info as I’m new to this.
I don’t know if a 12lb or 29lb is what I should use as the 12lb might be too thin?

Looking at that reel, it can hold 180 yards of 10lb powerpro braid which has a diameter of .152 mm. Your line test really depends on the species of fish you’ll be targeting but 150 yards of the #1.0 line is a good place to start (the 15lb test). Before spooling the braid just put some electric tape around the empty reel so the braid doesn’t slip.
But tell us what kind of fish you’ll be targeting as well as what kind of water you’ll be fishing, there are several factors that come into play when deciding your line strength.
+1 on the 15lb maybe even the 20lb. It’s going to be super thin either way and that reel can hold it. Spoiling your own line is pretty easy once you watch a video or two and do it yourself.
I love this Nanofil line. Super thin, strong and my casting distance has increased.
