I went to the academy of sciences today and there was this massive tank with many arowanas in it at the café. The entire time I was there these two arowanas kept swimming together without any aggressive behavior. I didn't see any biting or chasing. There was also plenty of room in the tank so if they didn't like eachother they could have kept their distance. Any explanation for their behavior?

I think this is breeding behavior? I don’t think fish bond with each other like humans/ other animals do
I believe that everybody has a friend at one point in their life, even aggressive fish that school such as pirahnas have friends, and I imagine that if they’re well fed, hanging out together at the very least on a non-bonding level relieves boredom and provides mental stimulation.
Even if arowanas are not known for being friendly, there’s surely the odd chance they could be!
