I recently put together a 5 gallon intending it to be for shrimp, however when sharing the news of my new tank to my friend, he offered a fish. I asked to see the setup it was currently in, and found the pictured image. I was mortified, and went to pick up the betta ASAP. The smell coming off the pretzel jar was horrendous, but the unnamed fish within was full of life. This is his new setup, and his name is now Pretzel. If anyone can spot any problems I should worry about, please tell me! Any rot or diseases that are sortable I will take care of as soon as possible.

Wow good luck Pretzel! 🥺 And I think Pretzel is a girl! Thankfully she looks okay despite her ordeal, just overweight lol.

Besides being a bit chonky she looks pretty good!
Is your tank fully cycled?
Poor baby! Glad you can save the day. Lil dude will have a much better life now
Looks like you have a lot of floaters. Make sure to leave some open space for the betta to breathe. Tank looks nice
I’m glad your friend offered him to you because oh, my goodness 😭 The upgrade will be very beneficial for her(?) She looks pretty healthy, to me.
