First real tank. First tropical and planted.

Stocking leopard Corydoras, platties, guppies, neon tetras, Harlequin rasbora, shrimp and snails.

I had a thin layer of gravel and wanted sand for the corys. I've made some clear acrylic dividers for the different substrates and shaped cave supports for the hanging rocks. The rocks are from my yard, i also made the bubbler come from a 2nd cave (happy accident).

Running an external filter, heater set at 24°C. In this tank, the ferns go nuts, but the Ambulia and floaters all melt. I used to run liquid fert (Seachem flourish), but no difference to running root tabs now, but thinking of a potassium/iron supplement? Not sure if this is any different from the Seachem. I used to have lots of success with Ambulia, but my new batch is melting too.

For the fish, the corys do like the sand, but so do the guppies – go figure.. the corys don't use my cave, they like the shipwreck covered in plants. I get a 2-3 new platties every month or so, happy with that. But I currently have like 100 guppy fry this round. Might look at 1 honey gouramis to eat some fry, but I don't want all the fry, and shrimp eaten..

Great stocking and great scaping. I love the flat stones and focus on swim space at the front, I’ve tried to do something similar with my tank 😁

As for the plants, just get a all round fert like TNC. As for sessiliflora not working for you, they’re basically bulletproof so it might just be new tank melt. For the floaters, if the lid is too humid and water gets on top of the plant it will rot them, but then you also don’t want jumpers 😂 it’s a difficult one. Maybe see if the water flow is pushing water on top of them also. Floaters generally can be difficult in large tanks for this reason.

How old is the tank and what are your nitrates reading? We can problem solve from there
