They (50th anniversary combo) were made to order. May have less quality materials in em, but making to order, limited amount, etc. can reduces costs as well. Who knows.
They will catch fish, I have the 50th and just replaced the reel. Since the reel is pretty awful. I would teel you to buy the rod and get a Diawa reel to make it a good combo
Get a daiwa spinmatic UL 8’ instead
