Since when do them ancistrus dig holes lmao? I just turned my aquarium’s light on and found him under the rock, I’ve had this guy for years and he never did this 😂

Since they are plecos lol, my older ones dig a few days before a spawn
All the ones I had always did. Males, females, doesn’t matter. Once they reach sexual maturity they start digging. Only thing that helped is those tubes for them. And always more tubes than bristlenose. So I had 3, and I’d have like 4-6 tubes (hidey holes, caves, whatever you want to call them). They’d move from tube to tube, but rarely dig their own
No caves means they make their own
Oooh they *love* dig, mine all dig like a mf once they’re mature even if they have caves available lol
It can get pretty impressive, we’ve got one who’s dug a whole cave *system*. Can’t see it til he disappears at one end of the tank & pops out of the ground at the other!
