I fly fished for years, and just last year got more into the drift/hardware game. I really enjoyed it but was using a 7’ Ugly stick elite with a 2500 Stradic. Obviously not optimal for bigger fish and rivers, from the bank.
I gave in and got this setup geared towards this style of fishing! Of course I stuck with the high end reel+ugly stick combo, and got the 9’ medium Ugly stick salmon/steelhead rod, with a size 3000 Diawa Prorex.
Beautiful is all I can say. I love my stradic but wanted a high end Diawa reel. With the prorex being designed for colder water, this was all I needed to hear. The holographic paint and the purple are so good looking.
