I just picked up an ambassadeur 4600 c4 in basically new condition and I'm stoooooked! I'm looking at getting a rod for it and using this as a kind of a "jack of all trades" setup as best i can. I know this won't be able to really be used for pitching lighter stuff, but light enough and heavy enough for a wide variety of fishing..maybe larger trout to stripped bass (freshwater). I'd like a rod that is in the 8ft range, 10-20lb line, moderate fast, maybe?, 2 piece, and i like full cork handles. Hopefully under $80…..my top choices right now are 1) ugly stik elite salmon (prior gen), the MH model hits all the right things i think…2) fenwick eagle salmon rode, similar ratings but slightly cheaper, but looks like maybe is out of stock everywhere for the new model I'm guessing..3) ugly stick elite- regular, just wish it was a 2 piece…so any other models I should be taking in consideration while the spring sales are still going??

The narrow spooled c4 is pretty versatile. It will easily cast a 1/16 bullet weight with a Texas rigged plastic, and works well for lures up to about 1oz. I use mine on a medium action bull bay, rated 1/8 to 5/8 Oz if I recall. I have a 5600c4ws that I use also that I use on a mh rod. I personally would fish the 4600 on a medium setup.

Daiwa Tatula XT casting rod. $100, Dont worry about the name not matching the reel, Its a great rod!

Something in the medium to medium heavy range will be best. The 4000 size is one of the most versatile sizes. Abu actually discontinued them around 2019 because they were eating into Revo sales.
