i bought these gorgeous apostos for my 110L tank. the fish store guy would only sell me a couple despite me wanting a guy and 2 girls, he says he can only buy couples as well.
i've put them in and as i expected the guy is constantly picking on her and pushing her with his tail trying to mate. she runs away and hides most of the time but it's really stressful on her and to watch.
as you can see the tank is heavily planted (ignore the momentary algae issue) and she has lots of places to hide but he just follows her anywhere.
anyone have any experience? should i just bring the poor girl back to the store?

It’s heavily planted but would benefit from leaf litter. It’ll give her many more small places to hide and quadruple your surface area. Some small caves with holes only she can fit in as well.
Dither fish are good too. They give the male and pair something else to chase besides themselves.
Dropping the temperature by 1-2°C can reduce breeding aggression in angelfish. Might work on apistos.
