Aquariums: Why is my boy milkshake so loud when eating

I dont know, but my bettas make loud sounds when eating sometimes too. Not sure how loud your Oscar is but its probably louder than my bettas

My guess, and I could be totally wrong, is that because fish have no tongues or hands to shove food into their mouths they need to use suction to draw the food in. My understanding is that fish rapidly open their mouths and the water flows in, pulling in prey and food, then closing quickly to trap their food.
i might have this a bit wrong, but I think this is the gist. My guess is that the sound comes from creating a sort of vacuum and then closing it quickly.
